Mountaineering Ireland’s Annual General Meeting will take place as an online-only meeting on Tuesday, May 28th, 2024 at 7.00pm

Dear Members,

Please be advised that Mountaineering Ireland’s Annual General Meeting will take place as an online-only meeting on Tuesday, May 28th, 2024 at 7.00pm. Delegates will be able to participate via Zoom, while other members will be able to watch the meeting live on YouTube. There are two Motions being proposed by the Board, one of which is a proposal to increase the subscription for Club Members by €3 to meet increased operating costs. There are three nominees for election to the Board of Mountaineering Ireland, all of whom are currently Board members.

AGM Registration

Mountaineering Ireland strongly encourages all clubs to avail of their voting rights by nominating Delegates to attend the AGM. Individual Members also have voting rights and are encouraged to register to attend.

Individual Members and Club Delegates must Register on this page in advance in order to receive the link for the meeting. To uphold the integrity of the voting, only registered delegates will be in attendance on Zoom. The deadline for registration is 2pm on Monday 27th May. The link for the Zoom meeting will be emailed to registered attendees after the deadline has passed.

Notice of AGM 

Preliminary notice of the date, time and venue, decided by the Board for the AGM, was given in the Spring 2024 issue of the Irish Mountain Log, circulated to members via our email circulation list and placed on our website on 28th March. This notice invited motions for discussion at the AGM and nominations for the Board. Notice was also placed on social media platforms.

Current Board

The current Board of Mountaineering Ireland is: Rita Connell (President), David Pollard (Chairperson), Noel Caffrey (Vice-Chairperson), Dave Ayton, Martha Burton, Ian Lawler, Alan Lauder, Brian Kennan, Mary McGrath, Jacquelyn Moore, Joan Mulloy and Alistair Wilson.

AGM Materials:

Voting at General Meetings shall be effected by Delegates. For voting purposes the Individual and Honorary Membership collectively, and each Member Club, shall nominate Delegates, according to the number of their total membership, as follows:

  1. For 100 Full Members or less, 2 Delegates, and
  2. For every 50 Full Members above 100, 1 Delegate, and
  3. For the remainder of their membership, 1 Delegate, subject, in the case of Member Clubs, to a maximum of 12 Delegates and, in the case of the Individual / Honorary members, to a maximum of 20 Delegates.
